![]() Preparing Facial Steam TeaPreparing the perfect Facial Tea Cover your hair with a cap or turban or tie it back and gently cleanse your face, leaving it moist. Select your facial steam bowl, pot or basin, making sure it has a wide opening similar to the one in the picture to the right. Bring one quart of water to a boil and either pour this water into another bowl or bring the pot to the table being sure to insert a heat resistant item beneath it. Take your tea ball apart and use the half without the chain to scoop out your facial tea from the jar, fill the whole tea ball half with the loose tea, place the other half onto the tea ball. Hold the tea ball by the hook located at the end of the chain and insert the ball into the facial steam water (do not touch the steaming water with your hands) hanging the tea ball hook on the edge of your bowl or pot. Let this steep for about three to five minutes. Sit in a chair and carefully lean over the tea steam leaving about ten inches between the water and your face. Drape a towel over your head making a tent as indicated in the picture to the right. If the steam is too hot for your skin, simply back away further and/or remove the towel. Close your eyes and steam for approximately ten minutes, turning your face back and forth. Steaming greatly opens up the pores ridding the skin of toxins and impurities so you must follow your steam with a warm water rinse, then a cool water rinse to help close the pores. Since it takes time for pores to fully contract, you may like to stay inside for about an hour or so. Steaming hydrates by adding moisture, increases circulation and relieves tension. Your skin will look younger, more vibrant and alive, naturally. |
